Figtree Anglican

Situated next door to Figtree High School, Figtree Anglican Church is a large vibrant community who are passionate about Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Jesus is Lord because he is God's son, and through him all things, including us, were created. Jesus is our Saviour because he died in our place to pay the penalty for our continual rejection of God as our king and us ruling our lives our own way without him. Activities at our church include classical and contemporary Sunday services, Children; Youth and Family ministries; Creative Arts Ministries; International Student Ministries; Compassion ministries to the needy; as well as other local, national and international ministry partnerships.

Whoever you are, whatever your back ground, no matter where you live or what language you speak you are welcome to come and enjoy our community of grace. At Figtree Anglican Church you will hear about who Jesus is and what he has done, as well as experience the difference that this makes through a growing personal relationship with Jesus and with others.

Christmas

Joy - Christmas 2015

For many people the story of Christmas is just a story, yet for others, Christmas is much more. It's the time when Christmas declares joy to the world. The Bible says, the birth of Jesus "will cause great joy for all the people".

It's now over 2,000 years since God proclaimed we should experience this great joy.

Have you ever taken time to think about this joy, particularly at Christmas time when for so many people, celebrations seem more challenging than joyful?

Part of our problem may be we connect the word joy with the word happiness and as a result, we allow our level of joy to be influenced by our circumstances. In the business of life we can often find our joy quickly depleted and by the time we get to Christmas, we only just seem to survive the day. But this is not what God intended.

We have joy because of what God has done for us. This is what we celebrate at Christmas. Think of the carols we sing.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant. People are joyful. Shepherds are joyful. Angels rejoice.

The joy spoken about over 2,000 years ago is the same joy we speak of today. It is a joy experienced regardless of circumstances and it's a joy that reminds us God is still interested in a relationship with his people.

So why not come and join us at one of our services this Christmas, to hear more about how you too can experience this joy.
